Hello! We are Anna-Maria, Ukrainian singers, and for the “MADE IN UKRAINE” project, we chose two very special and meaningful items — a painting and a hand-knitted vest.
Let’s start with the vest. It was lovingly hand-knitted by our grandmother over 40 years ago. She is no longer with us, but this vest remains — like a warm embrace from the past. When I hold it close, it feels like I’m transported back to childhood, to our family home, to her arms. It’s not just a piece of clothing — it’s a living memory that warms the heart. It feels as though she is still near, watching over us, helping us in her quiet, gentle way.
And then there’s the painting — a part of our home since we were little. No matter where life has taken us, it’s always traveled with us. We were born in Crimea, and the sea has always held a deep and personal meaning for us. This small canvas shows the sea and two sails. We often see ourselves in those sails — two sisters sailing forward through storms and winds, staying strong and always together.
When we moved to Kharkiv for our studies, we brought the painting with us. To this day, it hangs above us — the first thing we see each morning. It inspires and comforts us, reminding us of where we come from and what gives us strength. These are not just things — they are our roots, our memories, and our love, captured in simple, beautiful forms.
