Ivan Uryvskyi

Hello! My name is Ivan Uryvskyi, I’m a Ukrainian theatre director.

When I was asked what item is most valuable to me, I had to think — because in truth, there are many. In my hometown of Kryvyi Rih, there are countless objects from my childhood. But the one thing I always carry with me is my wedding ring.

It’s a very important item to me. Marriage was something I took a long time to decide on — I hesitated for a while, but eventually I did it. And the day after the wedding, when we were traveling to Spain — I think it was in 2019 — I lost the ring. For some reason, I was very scared. I don’t even know why. But then I found it again, and I haven’t taken it off since. One more detail: I could never wear anything on my fingers before — it always irritated me. But this ring — I wear it all the time. It’s deeply personal and tied to me, to my wife, to our relationship. That’s probably why I chose it.
